There’s a lot going out there- with recent announcements of Tech companies laying off hundreds of people and the rise of AI technology like ChatGPT, one might wonder- what is the prospect for students and graduates entering the workforce esp. in the tech sector?
The reality is that you never know when the down turn happens. Be it Global Financial Crisis of 08 or Dot Com bubble of the 90s and now the post pandemic, history shows that there has been shakeup almost all decades. What does this mean for graduating students?
This means, we no longer can be reliant on how our predecessors did things- just graduating is not enough, just being on the top of class is not enough, just securing a job at a top tech firm or consulting house is not enough.
We need to prepare for the uncertainties and the only way to prepare for uncertainties is to embrace it, to be open to change and adaptable.
Being a Youtuber was not a career 5 years ago, let alone being an IG Influencer or student starting their startup while studying. Those who were prepared were the ones that were adaptable and had the ‘Growth Mindset, Those who saw the opportunity and dared to action.
The Future is defined by those who dare!
