Finding your Place in this world
+ Employability & Entrepreneurship Bootcamp & Summer'23 Fellowship
🙇🏽♀️I remember getting asked ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ and this is a phrase we hear many times growing up. Some people know exactly what they want- I call them lucky ones! and many like the rest of us- Umm…Actually don’t know what we want. But under peer or family pressure we blurt out what we ‘think’ we want to be- a Doctor or an Engineer or a Lawyer, all noble professionals. Recently, many have said they want to be an ‘Influencer’. What you said you wanted to be when you were 5 could be different from what you say when you are a teenager or a university graduate because through the process we start making sense of our surroundings, ourselves and our aspirations. And in reality, graduating is not a sure pass of knowing what you want to be as ‘knowing yourself is a lifelong process’. In fact, it’s a part of the evolution process. As humans, we are ambitious by nature and whether we realise it or not we tend to set ourselves some goals and when we achieve it we set higher goals and that is the continual process of learning and evolving.
How do we then find our place?🙇🏽♀️🙇🏽♀️🙇🏽♀️
📌Identify your Strength and Weakness: Oftentimes we focus on improving things that we are bad at while rejecting the things that we are naturally good at. Instead focusing on things that we are good at so we can become masters at it. We all have innate skills and qualities- it is getting to that and developing it.
📌Identify how you can add value to others aka what the world needs. In order to do so, be open to experiences, learn about the world around you and see things from a wider perspective and how you can contribute to make it better!. Think globally.
📌Find your tribe: While you may think you are all alone- once you know yourself and what you want, you will meet likeminded people with similar passion and interest. Find and join those communities and groups. It is no wonder why Gaming has one of the largest communities around the world. When you meet like-minded people- magic happens! opportunities open up, lifelong friendships happen and you find meaning and purpose in your life!
To help you find your Place, we’re running Employability & Entrepreneurship Bootcamp aka Career Innovation Bootcamp. See below for more details.
Here’s a concept (also a book with the same name: Ikigai) to use as a framework to learn more about yourself!
Happy reading!

So, here’s to embracing change, following your heart, and continuously learning. Who knows where your own journey might take you, but one thing’s for sure — it will be an adventure worth taking.” Amber Chen, Illume Felllow.
